We believe in the beauty of handmade, the joy of creativity, and the power of sustainability. Our shop is your go-to destination for repurposed fabric, yarn, sewing supplies, and lessons from experienced sewists, knitters, and crocheters.
We are delighted to welcome you to our new, brighter location on Morton Blvd! We have even more good-condition fabric, yarn, notions and accessories which have been re-homed from sewists and yarn crafters throughout our area. Come visit often - we have new items daily as additional donations arrive. You can also sign up for a class or workshop! (Check the Workshops tab for upcoming classes/workshops.)
Fabric/Yarn
Our fabrics are sourced from YOU, the sewing and fiber arts community! Selections will change weekly, but you can always expect to find clean, quality fabric of all types (quilting cottons, apparel, and home décor) – as well as a wide variety of yarns. New batting and interfacings are also available in limited quantities.
Workshops/Lessons
We will offer 2-3 workshops and classes each month, including make-a-project sessions where attendees can create their own guided project. Classes will include instruction on basic sewing, knitting or crochet, and other how-to sessions as requested by our community.
Notions/Tools
We have an ample supply of donated notions, yarn and sewing tools, and crafting accessories ready to be rehomed. You may even find something you never knew you needed!
Hand-made Items
Consignments of local artists are featured each month. Your support of local artisans and crafters helps grow our community.
FrugalFabrics focuses on ensuring everything in the store is clean, worthy of purchase, and beautifully displayed. Our workshops will provide instruction on new and fun topics where beginner and intermediate sewists, knitters, and crocheters can expand their skills. We will also be a place for creative “emergencies” such as broken sewing machines, last-minute tools/notion needs, or that last square of quilt fabric that is needed to complete a project on time.
Two former JoAnn employees, Linda and Heidi, wanted to support the grieving sewing community of Ulster County in some small way. Without JoAnn, our local sewists now must travel over 30 miles to buy fabric.
When we proposed a creative reuse shop for sewists, the response was overwhelmingly positive. So, we got to work, found an available retail space, and voila! FrugalFabrics was born.
