My oh my, May!

We have had a whirlwind month so far!  The shop has been enthusiastically received by sewists and yarn crafters from all over the Hudson Valley, and even as far away as Rochester, NY!  We have been very much enjoying meeting new people and helping them find items that will enhance their projects.  Donations of lovely fabric and yarn have been coming in daily, so be sure to check back often for the newest items.

May-June Classes and Workshops

Sewing Machine Basics Drop-in

May 17 - 1 – 5pm 

This workshop will cover sewing machine basics for those who have a new machine, or one that has not been used in a millennium.  Bring your machine in any time between 1 and 5pm or you can learn on a classroom machine (basics are similar). $15 for about 1 hour of consultation.

Beginner Knitting

Saturday, May 24   1 - 4pm

We welcome the very talented Sarah as our new instructor for the much-requested beginner knitting class!  This class will teach the basics: cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.  We have plenty of knitting needles and scrap yarn to share, but feel free to bring your own if you’d like.  Ages 14 and up. $40 for the full 3-hour session.

Quilting for Beginners

May 31 – June 1   1 – 4pm

This 2-day workshop is for those who have always wanted to start quilting but have not taken that first step!  Participants will create a small rail fence quilt. $55 plus materials.

Father’s Day Mug Rug Workshop

Saturday, June 7   2:30 - 4pm

Participants in this workshop will create a quilted beverage mat, aka “Mug Rug,” to protect the furniture from Dad’s drippy beverages. Select fabrics from the huge variety we have in the shop to make your mug rug personal.  Suitable for beginners ages 12 and up.  $23 plus $2 for materials.

Next-level Knitting - Make a Lace Scarf

Tuesday, June 14  1 – 4pm

If you have completed our Beginner Knitting class, or have already mastered the basic skills, this next level class will teach you the stitches and techniques 
needed to create a beautiful lace scarf.  Yarn is available free in the shop, or you can bring your own. $40 for the 3-hour session.  Ages 14 and up.
